Our environmental experience is unmatched, and we have been at the forefront of natural resource issues in Washington for a long time.

Natural Resources

Our environmental attorney, Allan Bakalian, has been at the forefront of Pacific Northwest natural resource issues since the late 1980s when he was the lead EPA attorney for the Bunker Hill Idaho and Commencement Bay Washington Superfund sites.  In 1991, he negotiated the first nationwide joint CERCLA (Superfund) Natural Resource Damage Assessment settlement and has worked closely with federal, state and tribal representatives involving marine sediment contamination and natural resource damages, mining wastes, and surface and groundwater protection and cleanup matters.  He also has successfully represented clients before the Washington Growth Management Hearings Board, Shorelines Hearings Board and Pollution Control Hearings Board.  He was instrumental in preserving the salmon-bearing North Creek and associated wetlands in Bothell, WA prior the award winning upland development as the University of Washington's Cascadia campus.  Allan advised and represents clients involved in wetland mitigation, hydraulic permitting, water quality, and natural resource matters in the Pacific Northwest.
